Figuring out your ground’s nitrogen plan for next year starts in the fall at harvest. By increasing your residue breakdown of plants, you’re boosting the nitrogen availability for next year’s crop. Typical corn chopping heads create fine textured residue, which proves difficult for microbes to grab onto and begin the breakdown process. The 360 CHAINROLL is a new approach to residue management. Instead of chopping the stalks into tiny little pieces, it perforates them to increase surface area. This allows the microbial breakdown to speed up which then frees up more nitrogen for next year’s crop.
